DazzleShip launched Broadside, a collection of 7,290 unique 3D avatars in Nov 2022, and the Broadside community has since grown into one of the most engaged communities in the metaverse.
Over the last eight months, Broadside holders have been able to mint episodes of a story about their Broadside characters, and have paid to mint 35,000 episodes to date.
On Aug 22, Broadside holders will be able ‘merge and bind’ those episodes into 1/1 collectors edition NFT books, and earn royalties on future editions of the book by participating in the ongoing development of the world.
Broadside’s Merge and Bind Launches August 22nd
Merge Broadside episodes 1-11 together, binding them into a personalized 1/1 NFT First Edition Book.
Your book will feature your Broadsider, and include a brand new epilogue, setting the scene for Broadside Phase 2.
This is the first appearance of the Broadside book, both in print and on the blockchain. There will never be another edition like it. There will be wider releases – hopefully many more, in many formats and languages over time.
You do not need a Foreword token to merge and bind your book. But if you do include a Foreword token, you will get a special signed edition. The signed edition will grant holders the same future benefits and access as the unsigned edition – the difference is purely aesthetic.
We are working on exciting ways to connect future editions back to this first edition, offering first edition holders benefits, including royalties and license fees where appropriate, as well as access and opportunities to collaborate with us on future works.
If successful, we hope what we do here together serves as a case study for the creative industries, at a time when too many revenue streams for creators are disappearing.
To that end – we will ask minters of the Book to contribute to a section of future editions, celebrating First Edition holders, featuring every Broadsider who mints, their name, their owner’s name (or alias) and a 30 character sentence we will ask you to write.
All holders who participate will be eligible for the future benefits we’ve outlined, as contributors to the work. You own your Broadsiders, not us. If we want to use this contribution in future editions, we will have to license it from you, and pay you for the privilege.
There is no end date for Merge and Bind set at this time. We want to give all holders the opportunity to be part of this. There will be snapshots taken in future to make sure holders can participate in different stages, with snapshot dates communicated well in advance.
Terms and Conditions apply.
We are building in public, and some details may change as we go. This is the beginning of a new chapter for Broadside.
Thank you all for coming this far with us.
None of them are as strong as all of us.
