Wateraid – Global Strategy
How can animation help simplify the complexity of global issues?
Since 2013 we’ve collaborated with WaterAid and their international partners including UPGro, Skat Foundation, RWSN and United Nations.
The issues around clean water and sanitation run much deeper than purifying individual water sources, they are largely institutional, political and economic. To combat this we harnessed the power of storytelling techniques to challenge the audiences existing pre-conceptions and encourage them to take action on a local level in order to affect systemic change.
For their Global Strategy Campaign we communicated the story of Grace, a girl who misses school because she has to walk miles to find water so dirty it could kill her. By condensing the issues into a relatable narrative we were able to communicate highly complex topics effectively.
The video for this campaign is consistently in Wateraid’s 10 most viewed videos on YouTube. From a marketing perspective, the animated content now has a longer tail than their live action videos.

WaterAid work so that everyone, everywhere can have access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene education by 2030. Together we believe that Grace and her family can escape poverty when they have access to these essential resources.
